Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
Have not managed to see as many minutes of West Ham this season as hoped.

Was shocked at Wolves, could not believe lack of effort and strolling around.

To be honest , yesterday I only managed a highlights channel of yes only 6 minutes. Yet was enough to see for me in my humble opinion Lloris was the difference. Hate or loathe them they are verging top 4 have had a few seasons building a strong squad, yet we kept them fairly quiet with I think only two shots on target. Saw nothing but Marco work his nuts off and have a go. Even the disallowed goal was sublime passing. Its good to see and been much missed *the passing and movement. Kept Kane off the score sheet another bonus.

The thing that pissed me off more than losing was deja vu of Felipe strolling after balls and giving up chasing down for a tackle, just like Wolves. Without a care in the World.
The sooner he starts fighting for the ball or chasing down lost balls, I will be a lot happier. For now his sublime goal against Man U lifted the gloom I had from the Wolves game, and the goal shows signs and confirms he has the talent. He is not even a shit player, has experience unmatched at West Ham at present. But FFS I just want him to fucking chase balls down and not give up when things are not going rosy.

As for the Monster and General in defence, I think we have one of the best centre back partnerships for ages, both young ,both captains of ex clubs, both calm and not afraid of the big games and are solid, I miss ginger Pele but see a future Latin american Alvin Martin in Fabian B.

To beat Man U 3-1 and get a consecutive win against the Yids was always going to be difficult. We all know we are not the consistent consecutive wins in a row team.

I have faith in Manuel to sort Felipe out.

I have faith in Manuel in all . He is not pass it, as in too old. He was cako and comfortable in China, could have gone to a number of clubs. Like Santiago Bernabeu and Man City - the pull of a big stadium and a project most probably appealed to him. He is loyal - as a player a one man club, whether because shit or not but an experienced centre back with one club his whole career.

People talk of Man City and how their Nan could have done what he did. Same could have been said with Pep at Man City, and lets not forget he was replaced by Pep FFS, not as if he was ousted by a no mark. At Real Madrid Jose took over. I do not see this as Pellegrini being poor but a compliment that 2 of the most successful managers at the time were the best options to replace him.

Its little mentioned the miracles he did in Spain with Malaga and Villareal , considering 2 teams dominate La Liga , what he did on the budgets of nowhere near Barca or Real , was good fucking management and bought Two mediocre teams some beautiful seasons. 65 years old and managed 4 European clubs. Give me a loyal manager who has a long term plan at one club of attacking football, over all these travelling sacked managers going from club to club.

Also he is highly respected in the Football World due to his aura and lifelong experience internationally. The premier league the best in the world ( apparently ) , high pressure for managers. Well put Fat Sam or Moyes or even Jose M managing River Plate Argentina and that is pressure X10. Likewise with Balbuena playing at Corinthians Brazil, weekly pressure not to fuck up. River Plate ,Corinthians - passionate as fuck support like West Ham = pressure.
How many Managers in the world , admittedly due to his Man City stint, but to be invited to the Uefas *Elite* managers conference, was another notch in his belt. He can network and get on with the best managers in Football. Half of them were not much younger than MP.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2JGqOTN301U

Love the above clip , ok , it is not West Ham , but his confidence and knowledge shows in 4 minutes. Could previous West Ham managers in recent times talk tactics like this.

Finally - As for the cunt board - they now have a manager who is not a YES man. OK he wants his salary and too much integrity to speak bad of them , especially with a shaky start. But he will not hold back, he has answered to high profile Boards ,he is respected in the Football community and if the board were to shaft him or his project and plans I am certain they will end up looking worse off and find it even more difficult to get a manager of quality.

Have faith. Fuck the Yids. Lloris saved their bacon.

COYIs.

I dont see any change to this we rely so much on arnie its going to be a disaster when/if he gets injured- this season we will float to about 10the place .....

Say no more w4. 10th Place? I'll be happy as a sandboy for that.

As I have already said, Anderson is our top tackler this season so to suggest he can’t defend or doesn’t track back is completely untrue.

Add to that he is in the top ten for chances created, he isn’t really doing as bad as people keep trying to suggest.

He is also in the top ten for through balls which moving him to the centre might not be a bad move, but although he hasn’t lived up to the price tag yet I wouldn’t panic about him, or look to change the system that has looked more promising than those of the last 2 seasons.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
Anderson's best game for us was against Arsenal, and he played centrally. For us to get any real value out of him, we have to play him where we'll get the best out of his ability.

He is too easy to defend against playing wide. Of course we'll lose something defensively if he's central, but fucking hell, it has to beat these dull as dishwater games we're losing by the odd goal.

Defensively we're improving as the new players settle and Rice improves game by game. We need more in attack, and Anderson in the centre with a relative free role is a must.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
I'm not sure Anderson can play as a CM, he's not tough enough. He needs time to play where he is most comfortable, which is wide. Some players adapt to foreign conditions quicker than others. Diop has settled in almost right away, Anderson not so much.

I still believe there is a player there, so is worth persisting with. He's played 9 games

We're a bit short of numbers but i would take him out the firing line for the time being and bring him on when teams are tiring a little qnd hopefully build some confidence. He looked bewildered yesterday.

Probably yes. I think it just needs a lot more time. But in the meantime we are going to continue to be disappointed. That said, he's also capable of winning a match on his own in the right circumstances. It's just frustrating to see the off days.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
He would get murdered in the mixer imo. What he needs to do is get to grips with this league and put some effort in.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
Well I would try playing him in the midfield 3, something I suggested for the Brighton game. Maybe it would work against weaker opposition. And it wouldn't disrupt Rice who is proving our best player playing as a DM.

In this formation, where else can we play him centrally? It's either up front or as a CM, there are no other options.

theaxeman 5:14 Sun Oct 21
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
So to play Anderson inside we'd have to change our formation to hide him so he hasnt got to defend or are you suggesting playing him as one of the 3 midfielders?

Alex V 5:13 Sun Oct 21
Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
It's very difficult to play Anderson as a central attacker and have Rice play as a DM - very few shapes fit that. What we could try is playing Anderson as a CM as Snodgrass did yesterday, but it's potentially even more risky than having him cover a flank. The other answer is to play him up front as an Arnautovic replacement.

Truth is, there are no ideal answers for Anderson. He's not really suited to the league. Maybe in 6 months to a year he will be. If not, then sell him.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
Arfur needs to come in on the left and agree that Anderson should be moved to a central birth.

Diangana or Antonio to the right.

As we all said, it will take a few transfer windows to build strength in depth. We have already seen that weakness exposed.

Will Dildos think one window is enough? We shall see in Jan.

Goal scorer , central midfield and full backs need inproving. At least our goalkeeper and CBs are ok. Part of the spine

>>> They doubled up on Anderson yesterday

I don't agree. They actually left Anderson relatively free yesterday and he still contributed nothing. They played no out and out winger on that side to pressure him - Sissoko broke from central midfield. Okay Anderson's defending was pathetic but it wasn't actually his man to mark.

They doubled up on Anderson yesterday - we should have found a way to use the extra space but only rarely did

Decent second half- diop and Rice played very well i thought

Anyone else just getting fucking tired of getting beaten, I know I am..

I was told by a west ham supporting copper that they were briefed that if a west ham supporter used the term yid they would be arrested but tottenham fans wouldnt, which is ironic because i could have been arrested for calling a probably non Jewish tottenham supporter it yet he yelling yid army in my Jewish face would have walked away scot free, absolute bollocks. Also told the term pikey wasnt deemed racist.

Last two games we have been let down by shocking defending but overall i think we're moving in the right direction.

Re: ⚽ West Ham v Spurs - The Official Match Thread
We have improved defensively, and I personally don't think it's the formation or playing 3 in the middle or whatever, it's because the centre backs have now got an understanding and Declan Rice is playing very well as a defensive midfielder, even though he should have followed the runner for the goal. Keeper is superb as well.

Going forward we are lacking, especially now Yarmalenko is out we're going to struggle more for a goal threat. For me, we have to get Anderson playing centrally and give him freedom. He is the only fit player who can provide consistent creativity, however by having him on the flank and asking him to track back, we're losing out on his main asset, which is playing through balls which Arnie would thrive on.

He's too easy to defend against from out wide, because the opposition full back can position themselves easily enough to deal with him, and because he ins't lightening quick or brave, he's not enough of a threat on the flank. Centrally we get much more out of the few abilities he has.

Although I don't rate him, given the injuries we have, I'd play Antonio on the right, it will hopefully encourage him to go down the line and deliver with his only decent foot, and maybe stop him cutting in so often to shoot at every opportunity. Diangana on the left, Rice and Noble in the centre.

Lanzini can't come back soon enough.

Takashi Miike 3:41 Sun Oct 21

Yeah, I agree, he does drift in and out of games. He seems like he isn't up to the pace and physicality at times. Give him a kick and he'll shy away.

If Lanzini was in the side I think they'd link up well and I'd expect we'd see better end product from him, which is my biggest criticism of him.
